Translating Voiceover Work
Hi all,
I am looking for advice on this potential work opportunity that came my way. It is a small start-up, single-digit employees, that would require me to translate and record voice-over audio for short videos. They are offering to pay approximately $4/minute of audio recorded, no set minimum for how much work I'd receive each month (they said as the business grows I would receive more work). I say approximately because in the initial email they did not explicitly say $4, they said in the neighborhood of $4/minute. I understand this is something I would need to be clear on before I start working.
I don't have any experience doing voice-over work, I just happen to be bilingual and willing to do this work. For any of you who might have expertise in this field; would it be reasonable to expect to record 5 minutes of audio in an hour? If so, at $4/minute a 5-minute video recorded in an hour would result in a $20/hour gig. Is this feasible or just wishful thinking? Is 4/minute the industry standard for this line of work?
Please keep in mind, I'm not looking to make this my full-time job. More so just an additional income stream while I go to school online. Also, this would be my first online job so any advice on how to avoid getting screwed over is also very welcome. Thank you all in advance for any help.
