Is making an Amazon Payments account required to sign up for MTurk?

I recently was accepted into Mturk, and when I sign into their website, it says I have to sign up for Amazon Payments. I was confused, because I remember seeing that it can also pay to your Amazon gift card balance. Is an amazon payment account required to do either gift card balance or bank account?
