My foray into online earning
As someone who’s had a motley career of endeavors on the side, I hope some of what I’m going to share will be of practical value to folks who are just planning to dip their toes in side hustling. Started out about 8,5 months ago. One cardinal rule was no crypto. I've always fancied myself the creative type, dabbling in graphic design and copywriting whenever I could squeeze time out of my regular job.
While searching for the next side gig, I stumbled upon a platform that said you could play games for real money. I’m a skeptic by nature, but through sheer gaming nostalgia I thought, "why not?" and decided to parse this option further. The platform turned out to be mostly about competing in tournaments or completing certain levels in record time. I gave it a shot and actually pocketed a few easy bucks. Wasnt anything crazy, but it was a) fun; and b) legit. Anyone here making a decent side income on gaming? As for me, once nostalgia faded, I turned to gigs I was more accustomed to, e.g., logo designs, blog posts, PP presentations. For some reason, the employers in these niches tend to be assholes more often than in other markets. Don’t know what that’s about, but be ready for some stingy bozos if you’re a designer/writer.
The real game-changer, though, was online teaching. I signed up to teach English to non-natives. I never knew the pay was that much more decent than graphic design, and the hours are just as flexible. Tried online surveys, but those proved to be a grind even for my level of patience. All in all, the money I’m making on the side helps me indulge in my hobbies without hurting my main income. Take it from someone who's been there: with some diligence and willingness to go through a rotation of various occupations, almost everyone can find a steady source of cash trickling on the side. Steer clear of shady stuff, and you’ll make good.
