Do generic (non-namebrand) smart watches connect with Evidation?

I once had a generic fitness tracking watch that wouldn't register steps into Evidation no matter how much i tried troubleshooting. I was wondering if anyone uses a cheap/generic smart watch and can successfully link it to Evi with no issues.
