PayPal rewards not showing up in pending

On PayPal there is now this section called PayPal rewards. it’s giving really high cash back rates but doesn’t marking all the following purchases. Maybe I’m doing the buying wrong. It says something about using honey but I’ve gotten cash back from PayPal rewards even thought I don’t use honey. It’s just very inconsistent. It catches about 40% of the purchases I make using PayPal.
