Is being based in Washington State bad for online work like Appen?

I live in Washington State and I've been applying to things on Appen for more than a month now and I've not been accepted into any projects so far. I was wondering if maybe it's because I'm always listing my address in WA? Is there anything else I could try, with Appen or anything similar?
