This week's grocery haul (part 2): I got paid $18 to take $118 worth of Gas, Soap, Deodorant, Cleaners, Snacks, and more!
Here are the goodies.
I finally managed to finish off that $35 Ibotta bonus. Just in time, too. It's only been a couple days since my last haul, but that bonus was going to expire at the end of the month.
The gas rebate works at any store, although I had to submit my receipt for review since it didn't detect my purchase properly.
Total: $119.21
Coupons: $6.00
Total Cash Back: $131.08
Final Cost: -$17.87 - Money Maker!
Here is the complete break down and sites used. The Neutrogena coupon was a $5/2 that I got from the dermatologist a while ago. The other one was a printable coupon. I don't include sites that take any receipt such as Coinout, ReceiptPal, etc on my breakdown. The stores are listed in the breakdown image. Brandclub takes a while to credit, so the amounts listed are what I expect to get once it finishes pending.
Brandclub is a newer addition to my hauls. If you're not familiar with the app, you can read about it on the post I made the other day. I also have a guide about how I do trips like this if you're interested. Note: Individual deals vary by user for most apps. If you don't have the deals right now, you can try checking back later.
If you aren't interested in this kind of thing, please keep your comments to yourself. If you don't like what I buy, you can buy different products. If you don't like hunting for deals, you can do surveys, microtasks, games or whatever else you like instead. There is no need to discourage other users just because you aren't interested in the same things!
Some additional deals I didn't/couldn't take advantage of:
-
Betr Ibuprofin is $7.62 at my store with $6 back on Ibotta
-
Gillette Labs - Possibly a good deal at CVS if you have the right coupons. There's $5 back on Ibotta, a $5 coupon MFR coupon on their app or coupons.com, and you get $4 ECB for 2 Gillette or $10 for 3 Gillette.
-
Malt o Meal is on Shopkicks for 350 points.
-
Clorox - $3.21 back on MyPoints when you buy 2.
-
Red Gold Tomato Love - Free on Ibotta & $0.25 back on Fetch
-
Evolve - Free single bottle on Ibotta & $0.75 back on Fetch
-
Ready Sports Drink - Free on Ibotta
-
Free Core Bar at Walgreens, CVS, or Speedway on Ibotta
-
Free Tazo Tea on Ibotta. (Mine was $1 since I already bought it earlier)
-
Free Treasure Cave Blue Cheese Crumbles on Ibotta
-
Back to the Roots Soil - Free at Lowes on Fetch
-
Lots of stacking deals for Maybeline New York on Fetch
-
Lots of stacking deals for Mtn Dew Spark, Major Melon, and Zero on Fetch
-
Swagbucks has $10 back on a $15 purchase of Pure Life water
-
Poligrip - Ibotta + Shopkick + coupon = ~$1.30
-
Free coca cola energy (Single + 4-pack) on Ibotta
-
Kaboom and Oxiclean at Dollar General - Pair with the $5/25 Saturday coupon, and many stores have coupons on the products (mine didn't)
-
Kellogg's Free Breakfast Program - You can get a coupon for one free product up to $5 for Kellogg's Cereal, Pop-Tart, Nutri-Grain, or Eggo when you purchase an eligible product. Limit of 3. Just a note/warning - my coupon didn't scan properly at Wal-Mart (most of the "free" ones don't). The employees at my store don't have a problem entering it manually, but ymmv.
Afterthoughts
Finally finished off that Blossom bonus, and I'm happy to be done. I'm getting a bit burned out from the multiple trips each week, so I probably won't be doing any big Ibotta bonuses for a while. Unless I get another good bonus... Ibotta has been pushing a lot lately.
Today's trip was pretty mentally exhausting. I was really having trouble putting together a good haul, which isn't uncommon towards the end of the month and/or the end of a big bonus like that. A lot of offers I've been relying on (ex: all the core bars) stopped reappearing. I also made a ton of substitutions while I was at the store. I had quite a few more deals planned which used MyPoints/Swagbucks, but while I was at the store the offers were nowhere to be found. They reappeared once I got home, so I'm a bit irked about that. On the other hand, I noticed a few things while at the store and decided to grab them (Gatorade, Tazo Tea, 1oz Beyond Meat Jerky, etc) instead of things I wouldn't have really used. By the time I was done, I ended up swapping out about 1/3 of the haul while at the store. It was worth it though because those were all items I wouldn't use, and now I'll be using/consuming the majority of the haul (as long as I'm not allergic to the non-food items).
The strawberries were a bit of an unexpected deal. I knew there was an Any Brand rebate, but Strawberries are expensive right now so I wasn't going to get any. They looked super tasty though, and one package was smashed on the floor, so the whole area just smelled like Strawberries. That took a pretty big hit to my haul total, but whatever. I'm a bit upset about that Jergens though. The tag at the store said it was going to be like $2, and I found a $1.50 coupon on the shelf so I was super excited. Didn't realize that they rang up for almost $7. That's absolutely ridiculous. I'll be returning them for sure. Our store has gotten really bad about putting the wrong prices on tags. (Not the wrong product/spot, just the wrong price. I checked the barcode.) I'm just glad I decided to take it home to try instead of immediately giving it away since there's a 99% chance I'm allergic to it.
The Neutrogena was another unexpected deal. I got a $5 off 2 coupon a while ago from the dermatologist, but Neutrogena stuff is usually expensive so I didn't use it. It was set to expire on 4/30. While I was walking past the sunscreen, a bunch of hanging coupons caught my eye, so I stopped to see what there was. Happened to notice these tiny Neutrogena Sunscreens for only $1.97 each so I grabbed them.
Since I was struggling to find good deals, I ended up spending quite a bit to meet that big bonus. I "spent" about $9 today. Combine that with the ~$6 from before, I essentially spent $15 on things I normally wouldn't buy in order to get the $35 bonus. Not too shabby, but not sure I'd really consider it worth the effort. I'm proud of myself for managing to do such a big bonus though. I've never completed one over 100 items before. I usually only do the ones for 30 at most.
Time Spent
Wal-Mart - I was in the store for roughly an hour and 10 minutes including the time to scan my receipts and do a couple BC surveys. Only about half my purchases were deal items though. I stocked up on my regular stuff since I don't plan to go out for a while. Planning took place over the span of 3 or so hours while I brushed and played with the cat, chatted with some friends, ate breakfast (and lunch), and did various other little things. Today took a bit longer than normal since I was having trouble putting together deal items.
Sheetz - A couple minutes. It was just gas.
Aldis - I was there for about 10 minutes including getting the regular stuff.
Food From Deals
It's only been a couple days since my last post, so nothing new yet. Here's what I wrote last time: I normally batch cook, so it's not unusual for me to make a bunch of food at once and then pop most of it in the freezer, but this weekend I focused on using up some of the stuff I've been getting in hauls. Pardon the mess. I did all of this (and more) in a day, and didn't have time to clean up between each photo. Ham & Pepperoni Stromboli with Jalapeno Cheese, a super delicious Lemon Butter Bundt Cake, some Personal Pizzas, Enchiladas, Stuffed Pepper Soup, and Mini Lasagnas.
Do you guys want me to continue showing things I've made using ingredients I got from rebate apps on these posts? Let me know in the comments, or you can vote on this poll if you want to remain anonymous.
