What's the deal with Appen?

Has anyone else had any experience with Appen, or any advice to offer?

Aside from the long, long wait to - hopefully - get paid, they've missed multiple items from my second invoice and have entirely failed to respond to my support requests. They did email me on the fourth of this month, to tell me that this month's invoice needs to be submitted by, er, the third.
