What to do about being taxed through paypal?

I hustle to make ends meet like everyone here. This year paypal was harassing me to link my tax id. I earned maybe 2 grand this year doing prolific and intelzoom. Are we seriously getting taxed over this while the cooperations and the rich get to dodge taxes due to loopholes and rulebreaking? This is a side hustle that we all need to make ends meet or try to get some fun money. Why is this a thing now and what are we supposed to do?
