[Guide] Monster Legends - Level 20
Overview
Saw this one on the newly added offers list on Swagbucks, and couldn't see an up-to-date guide for it anywhere.
In this game, you collect and breed monsters to use in 3v3 battles. You have the standard energy bar which recharges up to 10 stamina, one every 10 minutes. The game features a type system where each type has a strength and a weakness, similar to games like Pokémon, and each monster seems to have its own role to play in battles.
Before I start, I should mention that while the game is pretty fast to complete, it benefits you greatly if you can open the game every 30 minutes to collect resources.
Note: This guide is specifically for completing the level 20 offer. If you are interested in playing this game beyond level 20, I strongly recommend you don't follow this guide, as many of the strategies used will hurt your progress beyond the level 20 requirement.

Starting Off
I highly recommend starting this game when you have some time to put in to it. The game gives you 50 stamina to get through when you first start, and you won't start regenerating stamina until you hit below 10.
I also recommend starting the game near the end of the multiplayer tournaments, and I'll explain why further down. These tournaments reset every two weeks at 1PM UTC. A new tournament just started on the 14th of May, so I would recommend starting this offer around 26th of May.
The game starts off by giving you plenty of monsters. Don't sell any of these, as they will be useful for breeding newer, better monsters and each monster in a habitat will gather you gold passively. Keep an eye out for a nature/fire monster called Pandaken as this monster has a very high passive gold income, and has a self-healing ability making it good in battles.
Most importantly, save up your gems until you have 40, then use them to upgrade the hatchery to level 2. This lets you hatch 2 eggs at once instead of just 1.
Resources
Gold is gained over time from the monsters in your habitat. The maximum amount of gold your habitats can carry at once is based on their level, and the amount of gold generated per minute is based on the monsters level. You will use gold to upgrade most buildings and remove obstacles.
Food is gained passively from your farms. The farms have options to gather food every 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour and so on. I found it best to upgrade the farms and gather 400 food every 30 minutes. You will use food to level monsters and habitats past level 3.
Gems are the premium currency of the game. You get these from achievements and watching ads. Save these up until you get 40 to upgrade your hatchery.
Adventure Map
Your main source of EXP. Attempting a level costs 1 stamina, and completing a level for the first time gives plenty of EXP, gold and food. You can re-do levels, but all you will get is monster exp. Every 10 levels there is an island boss, and you'll likely need to level up your monsters to face them each time.
After defeating the boss at level 10 of the adventure map, I got an epic Primigenius egg. I don't know if this is a guaranteed drop, but it hard carried for the rest of the game and is apparently one of the best epic monsters in the game. This thing is a tank, with team shields and self heals and often 1v3'd battles by itself. Definitely stick this monster in your team.
You should go back and get 2/3 stars on each level of the adventure map when possible. This will give you a spin of the roulette for free. You can get more stars by killing opponents quickly and with minimal losses.
Dungeons
Some time in to the game you will be given access to dungeons. Each dungeon level costs 1 stamina and gives a fixed reward + a roulette spin. Focus on the Maze Coin, Gold and Gold+Food dungeons.
The level of the monsters in the dungeon scale off your highest level monster, so level your monsters evenly for the easiest time.
Mostly a waste of time, only do dungeons when you are stuck on a boss level in the adventure map.
Maze
Not much to say about this one, you'll get maze coins from doing everything in the game. Use the maze coins to progress monsters through the levels for free stuff.
You can see what rewards are ahead of each monster, so try to hit food rewards or gem rewards.
Every now and then you'll get discount uses of maze coins, but given we're only playing this to level 20 it's not worth waiting for. Just use the monsters to hit high amounts of food on the maze.
Multiplayer Tournaments
Surprisingly, not too hard to compete in as a new player. You'll start off in Bronze III and gain some rewards as you go up each tier. Set an attack and defense team, and use your attack team to battle players to win trophies.
Each tournament lasts two weeks, and you'll get given a reward based on your tier at the end of the tournament. If you started near the end of a tournament like I suggested, try to reach Bronze I (700 trophies) before it ends and you'll be given 15 gems, 100k food and 150k gold. 100k food is a huge boost to your monsters.
After each victory in multiplayer, you'll be given multiplayer chests. You can carry 3 at a time. Tier 1 takes 30 minutes to open, Tier 2 takes 1 hour to open, Tier 3 takes 2 hours to open. Sometimes these will give you food and gold, but mostly you'll be given some (useless for us) fragments for legendary/mythic monsters. Try to be opening one of these at all times.
Monsters to use
There are so many monsters, and so many different enemies you'll face that there is no clear best team to use for the challenge. Some monsters to watch out for if you get them are:
-
Primigenius from adventure map level 10. This is one of the best epic monsters in the game, and will carry you for the entire offer. This earth/nature monster is a tank, and has team shields and self regen.
-
Pandaken is a fire/nature monster that has a damaging ability that also self heals. Also has a very high passive gold generation.
-
Vapwhirl is a water/fire monster that is really good at stunning enemies so that they skip a turn.
-
Beefcake is a dark/earth monster that has a lot of AoE damage abilities and a heal + regen ability that can be used on itself or an ally.
-
Pretty much any rare monster you get your hands on will work for this offer though.
Other tips
- To level your monsters past level 10, you need to build temples of their element.
- Complete battlepass missions to get building speed boosts, up to 75% faster.
- Some achievements are pretty easy to do, like clear 50 obstacles, and give lots of exp and gold. You can clear obstacles off other islands too.
- There is no way to cancel breeding or egg hatching. Plan accordingly.
- If a monster is breeding, you won't be able to use food to level it up.
- Leveling the temples to level 2 is a good way to turn your gold in to EXP if you have excess gold.
- If you've already leveled your hatchery to 2, you can use 10 gems to revive your monsters mid-battle. Do this to get past tricky boss stages on the adventure map.
