Prolific blocked my IP (and any IP my ISP provider can give me) and I can't participate in studies anymore.
I'm very frustrated and I want to vent.
I've been getting nothing but completed surveys for the last years. As someone unemployed after covid, the few euros that I was making were helpful for whatever little they provided.
And suddenly since 2 weeks ago I started receiving error 'PEC-SUB-0002'. According to their docs this is because my IP 'has been flagged by our system'. Emphasis on OUR system. They also promptly shift the blame to my ISP provider because hey, I get dynamic IP and someone may have done something bad somewhere.
The worst part is that, not only they claim that it wasn't due to my poor performance but they also claim that they cannot do anything. If you're not in control of who's allowed to use your platform then who is?
I'd rather take a fall because of something I did rather than something someone else did. And they also claim that they cannot do anything about it, so they're more than fine with cutting ties with someone who tried to submit quality surveys as far as whoever used my IP sent spam emails, bitcoin mined or whatever.
And for what is worth, I contacted my ISP and I changed FIVE unique IP's and all 5 were getting the same error. Makes me think that this may as well be country related (I live in Greece). But one of the last surveys that I undertook was fully written in Greek so, I'm really not seeing this. If Greek participants were softbanned by IP why host Greek surveys?
Edit: Yes, I just realized that I typed "ISP provider" but I'm keeping it for the memes.
