Making money (passive income) on YouTube, is it worth the try?

After realizing that survey sites are either completely shit or a hit or miss, I realized that if monetized I could make some extra bucks on the side doing yt. Not as a full or a part time job. I'm completely satisfied with a lesser income.

Now, how easy is it to get monetized? And is it even worth trying, or is it better to look for alternatives?

Also interested if montages videos get monetized and what is the threshold before you get a copyright strike for music?
