Blogging for Passive Income - When To Stop?

I’ve often thought about creating a blog in order to generate passive income. I’m a former career journalist and, though I hate writing now, it’s one of my few marketable skills and my writing experience and personal interest is in a niche market. I’m not opposed to spending a few hours a month to create content. My question is...

At what point do you realize the time and money invested in a passive income project such as blogging is not worth it?

A bit of an open-ended question. But I appreciate any opinions and/or real-life examples.
