Served as election judge for a quick buck. Never doing it again

Made $230 for 17 hours of work plus 4 hours of training, which comes down to $12/hour, less than minimum wage in my state. It's not an 'easy' job either. 6 people(the judges and coordinator) have to set up and take down everything you see at the voting place on epection day, and everything is confusing af, and you gotta keep everything and be extremely careful because it's the US election. There's also a 3rd party hawking you to make sure everything is smooth. My phone battery ran out mid election so I had to sit there bored the rest of the day.

Also, the online training videos are inadequate for first-time judge(rest of my fellow, seasoned judges did most of the packing up amd voting receipt packing, while I stood there like an idiot trying to help out with stuffing suitcases of equipments into the large metal cart)

And the ipad that registers voters clogs up every 3 seconds. I type 50wpm, and after i type a name at medium speed, I watch as the letters pop up one by one. My 2009 giant computer is faster than that.

And the ballot is dumb af as well. There is 1 electronic voting machine(wtf it's 2020 guys!!!), so instead of waiting in line, people go for the paper ballot. The ballot processor doesnt process if your sharpie does a simple smudge. There's so many people that had to vote twice. A couple people simply gave up writing in ballot over and over again and walked out in frustration.

And you could get into legal trouble if you make a simple mistake bc video training is shit. High risk, high effort, low reward. You might as well pick up a one-day warehouse shift for extra money. Election judging is not worth it.
