Some helpful tips for people using UserTesting.
What is Usertesting?
Usertesting is one of the best websites to make money online with excellent pay per hour. You get paid for reviewing websites and apps of various clients. There can be a lot of different types of reviews including but not limited to: design mockup review, game testing, app testing, website usability testing, and a lot more. The best part about this is that the tests are usually exciting to do and as a plus point, you get a glimpse of the new release of a product.
How much can I earn from Usertesting?
The amount of screeners (the qualification survey for a test) is determined by your location and profile. The earnings from Usertesting vary widely, and for a country such as India, you can expect to earn about $50 per month. For countries such as the US, people could average out at about $150 or more. Please note, these are average figures and vary a lot depending on the location and the market condition.
Usertesting Payment Cycle
Usertesting pays you precisely 7 days after you have completed a test. According to Usertesting, they utilize this time to judge your submission. It is also the time within which the client rates your review according to how helpful you were.
The payments are sent out only through Paypal and there is no other option to receive payments from Usertesting.
Some helpful tips!
- Speak everything that you are doing on the webpage. Whether it’s clicking on a button, scrolling down the page, etc. Whatever you are doing, speak your actions clearly.
- Speak how you feel doing the task in the prompt. Explain what you are feeling while doing it. Does something interest you, does something on the page catch your attention, tell the client what you think doing a task and be sure to give proper reasoning for it.
- Only do what is asked in the prompt. Do not go ahead with exploring on your own, just stick to whatever the prompt asks you to do. Most websites are prototypes, so clicking on something unrelated could mess up your test. Sometimes, you might accidentally do something which you were supposed to do on a later step. So, its always better to just stick to the instructions in the prompt.
- Close the fan and other appliances to reduce background noise. One of the most irritating things for clients is to hear constant whirring noise in the background from your home appliances. You should try to reduce this as much as possible to get a better rating and perform tests like professionals.
- Turn off notifications as they are irritating. This is one of the most embarrassing and annoying things that can happen to you while doing a test. Try to turn off notifications before starting a test.
- Always complete a screener and keep proceeding until you see the timer to begin the review process. Most of the tests with quick screeners finish off really fast. To grab the opportunity, click the “Accept Test’ followed by “Start Test” as soon as possible, so someone does not steal the task away from you. After you click on “Start Test” you will see a 15-minute timer which should give you ample time to set up before starting.
- Aim for 5-star rating every time. Trust me when I say, that a difference between 4 and 4.5 could easily be a $50 a month. Aim to always keep your rating above 4.5 at least. Since ratings do not change very often, if you have a bad rating, it could be tough for you to get back up. Also, the Usertesting team personally reviews all tests with a 1 or 2-star rating, and give you suggestions for improvement if you perform really bad on a test.
