Amazon shopper VPN

I have the Amazon shopper panel. And signed up for the VPN part as well. But not so sure about it now. I keep getting random popups of strange websites, no matter what I am doing. I could be streaming a movie, playing a game, on social media, doesn't matter. I will get an odd loading icon for a split second in the middle of the screen and the chrome loads up with odd pages metrodgame or zumalon. I thought the VPN just just to monitor what ads I see, not to push stuff to my screen.

Anyone else experience this?
