Embee Mobile Performance Meter Data Usage

I've noticed for a while that the Embee meter uses quite a bit of mobile data just running in the background. I have background data disabled for the app, never even open the app when I'm using mobile data, and have notifications turned off for it. Yet somehow the app has used nearly 2 GB of foreground data over the last month. Does anyone else have issues like this with the app or know how to fix this? I have reached out to their support and they don't seem to know what is going on. I also have a Samsung S10e if that helps.
