What makes a good referral program to you?

Would love to hear what you guys think:

- What are some of your favorite referral programs/structures and why?
- How much do you expect to earn from referrals to make it worth the effort to share?
- For a passive earnings site where every valid signup will earn rewards, is a simple "get $ per referral" sufficient or do you still expect a give$/get$ type of program?
