Navigating a Groupon exchange and trying not to lose cashback
I bought a Groupon recently for the 3rd time in 5 years. Before they allowed repurchase/reuse every 6 months, but it recently changed and I missed it, whoops! There's an identical deal at a competitor who is also on Groupon, which I'm happy to change to, but the various promotions I had then won't work now. I'd rather not just get a refund because it was a pretty good deal...
Rough #'s but the value of the Groupon is $600. They normally sell for $400. Groupon (or the business) was offering $25 off, making it $375. 25% off that for Groupon Select is $281, and then Samsung Pay cashback was 40% capped at $100, for a net spend of $181. Samsung Pay says the cashback is pending for 30 days, which will be in about 2 weeks.
Working with Groupon via Twitter and they gave me 3 options:
- Cancel the order and place a new order for me.
- Give me Groupon bucks in the amount I paid to purchase a new deal. (not sure if this means the $281 I paid or the $375 which is listed on the voucher)
- Cancel order and process refund to credit card.
Any experience in this area or advice?
