Should I pay to work for an online job?

I recently signed up for indeed and received a text to get information from a number. When I called the number they didn't receive it but sent another text to get the information through whatsapp. Then they sent an office address on whatsapp and said to visit there. When I asked if I needed to pay to join the job they said yes. When I asked if I can pay after making money from the job they said no. They still didn't say how much I need to pay. All this feels sketchy. It's a work from home job and I'm wondering if it's a scam or I should give it a go.
