Really Creepy Experience with FocusGroup.com
Hello all-
Just had a really creepy moment after signing up for FocusGroup.com.
Like so many of you- I thought I'd look into online / in person focus groups as a way to supplement my income during my down season with work.
I did my research and signed up for FocusGroup.com and Respondent.io. Seemed like legitimate, secure options. I tried to research privacy policies, but couldn't find much for either. There were enough positive reviews versus negative, so I signed up regardless.
I was having an issue with the FocusGroup website so sent an email to their support address. In their response, there is a picture next to my name...
It is a screen shot from an Instagram story I made after a purchase in 2018. I am not joking. It's a snap of a piece of artwork from an art fair. I never posted it or uploaded it- just included it in my temporary Instagram story. I did not provide FocusGroup with any of my social media info when I signed up.
...what the actual fuck? I would love if anyone else who uses them emails their support team and sees if they have a similar experience. I have asked them to delete my account, but I'm guessing in clicking "sign up" I unwittingly offered perpetual access to my personal (and I mean personal, as this was an image that was meant to disappear) information.
*(New to this sub-reddit- if there is a better place for this, let me know!)
