Is respondent.io creating marketing leads?

I participated in a $35 study earlier today. It appeared to be a usability study for two websites that sell a medical device. The researcher had me register on one of the sites and before the review was over, I had a phone call and an email from the company to “follow up”. I’m wondering if the company is paying respondent to generate leads?
