US based user traveling abroad

I’m from the US but I’ll currently be in Mexico for a month. Of course I’m aware that you’ll get banned for VPNs/generally cheating the system, but are most apps really that strict about simply being in another country? I understand there’s stuff like payments from local ads to consider, but just curious what others experiences were.
