Prolific Wanting Photo I’d

Signed up for Prolific a few days ago and got put on the waitlist. Just got an email yesterday to say I could join. From what I’d read here I thought I’d be waiting much longer. However the email states that they need photo id (license or passport) to verify identity. I’m not sure what world they’ve been living in but there is no way I’d upload photo id online considering the huge amount of data breaches (in general, not Prolific) over the last few years. Anyone else been asked for this? I’m in Australia if that makes a difference.
