Are marked-down Amazon GCs from r/GiftCardExchange a scam?

I've bought a bunch of gift cards from over there at 70-80% their actual value. I'm wondering what the deal is with them—how are they able to sell so many at such a discount? Is there any fraud or theft involved? Or is there just something I'm missing?
