Upwork, rant/question

First off, all I keep getting is these “sign up for an acorn account” offers…and more street this year upwork will be taking a 10% fee versus the 5% fee now(for existing users) new users will automatically get 10% fee taken.. I know some people do really well on this site but lately it’s been hit or miss for me. Any tips on getting better jobs?
