Is usertesting basically just trolling for data?

I've been using user testing on both my phone and my PC for several weeks now, and the vast majority of my time is spent answering about four or five questions and getting something that says it isn't a match. I understand how these work, I get that you're not going to qualify for every session, but I swear a lot of these just feel like somebody's gathering data points, with no intention of getting you any further than that. Am I crazy, anybody else feel this way?
