Receipt Apps Battery Hog

What's up with the recipt apps draining my phone battery extremely quickly? CoinOut, Receipt Pal, Receipt Hog, TruNow, Fetch.

Whenever I use these things my battery shoots down. It'll go from 25% to 15% in about 3 minutes. It'll easily wipe out half the charge with just a few minutes of scanning
