HitPredictor - Rate songs to receive Amazon gift cards

HitPredictor | Non-ref

HitPredictor is a site where you can get Amazon gift cards for listening to music and rating it. The rating just asks whether you liked it, and it asks you to fill in a short description. Every week they run "contests", and you have to be invited to them in order to "win" a reward. The contests vary, but generally you will be asked to rate 10-15 songs and will receieve a $5 gift card. Although it's called a "contest", most of these contests are guarenteed rewards. The terms vary though, so watch out for ones that say you need to be one of the first few users or you will be entered in for a chance to recieve the gift card.

Although contests are run each week, you likely will not be invited every week. It usually goes in cycles for me where I will be invited every week for a couple months, then I won't hear anything from them for a while. The invites are sent to your email, but you can also view them in the red box on the main screen. If you don't get any for a while, it can be helpful to update your listening profile.

In addition to that, you receieve points every time you rate a song. The points can be used to purchase entries into the raffles. I have won the raffle once or twice over the years, but I usually just forget to use my points.

Ways to Earn Rate songs

Pros

  • It is easy to rate the songs, and sometimes you get to hear songs before they are even released.

  • There is no rush for most of the contests. The guarenteed prize contests end ot 11:59 pm ET on Tuesdays usually.

  • Rewards are usually sent a day or two after the contests end. It says it may take up to 7 days though.

Cons

  • Their website can be a bit buggy. You have to make sure to go to www.hitpredictor.com, because it will not redirect without the www. If you log in to the main site while rating songs, your rating might bug out and not credit. If you log into another browser while rating song, you might glitch the entire thing and be unable to rate songs for a while.

  • There's no easy way to keep track of how many songs you've rated for the contest. You can view the past votes, but it doesn't say when you did them. I usually just jot down what my first song was. Be careful trusting how many songs on on that page! Sometimes it shows 8 songs, sometimes 9, and sometimes 10. Count each one if you want to know how many there are!

Overall opinion

Despite the glitchy website and the difficulty tracking my progress in the so-called contests, I do love this site. Getting $5 or $10 for ~20-30 minute spent listening to music is great. I have noticed that I tend to have more problems with the website if I wait until the last day to rate the songs. It's probably just a coincidence, but I try to complete them ahead of time just in case. You do need to make sure you've rated all the songs before 11:59 PM though. I was 30 seconds late once and it didn't count (although support was awesome and they decided to pay me anyways).
