Any good platform that offers payment for letting it use your mobile number?

I'm not exactly sure how the system works. But I heard that there are online platforms out there that offer payment to have any of them actively use your mobile number, which I assume is being used to relay messages in the country where the person is based.

Can anybody shed light on how this really works and what are its pros and cons? More importantly, which platform is best on this regard?

Aside from profit, I am merely doing this to keep my mobile number active in the network and offset any likely repercussion of being so.
