Userinterviews.com asking to connect LinkedIn - is this legit or data mining effort?

Hey y'all, I've been getting into doing test panels/focus groups/surveys to help pay my bill. I appreciate this subReddit, it's been so useful to learn more about the sites people use!

One major question I have - I generally don't like to sign up for any accounts (esp not like these) that require you to link your social media. Now I keep seeing good test studies at UserTesting but it really bothers me that after you do a prescreen for a study, they will ask you to connect your Linkedin. I guess because they want to see that you're an actual person?

I guess I'm a bit concerned about taking that step, because I'm not sure if they would end up personal details etc. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can you later disconnect your account from your LinkedIn permanently? From what I see here and in other reviews, they do seem to pay well so it's very tempting...
