Taxes for minors on beer money.

My parents are saying they’ll have to file any income(around $450 total), even if it’s under $600 on their taxes since it entered their bank account and PayPal.

Is this true or should they not mention it until I get $600 from one source(highest I’ve gotten one from one source is $150).

Also, will I have to file my own taxes or will they file my income since I’m a dependent. I’d prefer the former because I’ll have to pay way less since I’m not making very much.
