Remotasks unavailable in my area? What does this mean I'm in the U.S?

Hi all,

I tried to sign up for remotasks, they got my phone number and my email address and then said it was unavailable in my area (DCish). Did I get scammed? If not why was it unavailable? Are there sites similar to it that do work?
