Mturk permanently suspended my account for being related to a rule breaking account?

tldr: what situations can a Worker account be related to another MTurk account?

“Greetings from Mechanical Turk.

We regret to inform you that your Amazon Mechanical Turk Worker account has been suspended effective immediately. We took this action because our records indicate that your Worker account is related to another Amazon Mechanical Turk account that was closed for violation of the MTurk Participation Agreement.”

I tried to ask for details because I really don’t understand this. How could my account be related to another without me knowing? All they told me when I asked to understand what happened was “refer to the previous email.” Do they just.... make up account relationships? I don’t understand this. Can someone at least explain plausible (or even unplausible) situations where this can occur? I feel like if I’m suspended I at least deserve an understanding of what could have happened.

I literally only used mTurk for a month because then work picked up, and I hadn’t even logged back in for three or four. I was thinking of logging in again before I got this email. I won’t be put out by this, but I’m like a goody two shoes type and I feel bad or guilty to be reprimanded? So I guess I’d at least get some closure if people could explain possible scenarios where this can occur- unlikely or likely.
