My Key Takeaways After ~5 Weeks in this Sub
I've just learned about this subreddit in late May and gave it my all for about a month. In total, I've raked in ~$1,700. This has been a serious gold mine of information, so thank you all for sharing! It's been tough times for my household and I did all this on top of working FT. As gratitude, here's my earnings report and my takeaways.
My earnings breakdown (cashouts): 1. dscout - $1254.50 2. Bank signup bonuses - $110 3. Field Agent - $74.10 in earnings, $153.74 in free products 4. Craigslist Studies - $60 5. User Interviews - $50 6. Prolific - $54 7. Product Tube - $25 8. Crowdtap - $10 9. Respondent - $9 10. Streetbees - 5.70
My experiences: Platforms I've signed up for but didn't get around to, and plan to try this month: validately, usertesting, trymyui.
Platforms I've tried and realized it's not lucrative for my needs: checkout 51, ibotta, mindswarm, streetbees, clickworker / uhrs, methinks, upvoice, ugig, fieldwork, surveymonkey rewards, crowdtap
Platforms I'm passively working on: coinout, receipt hog, receipt pal, fetch, dosh, pei, topcashback, rakuten, getupside.
I'll be the first to admit I wasted so much time trying to be a coupon wiz after watching a few episodes of extreme couponing, lol. I dedicated most of a week's free time to ibotta, coupon.com, flipp, checkout 51, etc.... I think this really works for certain personalities but requires a lot of effort and coordination, plus you've got to have a very American palette and diet to benefit from it.
I've dedicated about 1 week to mystery shopping and it's definitely my favorite by far. The earnings aren't the best but it's really easy, a bit fun, and includes a lot of freebies. With Field Agent, I maximized curbside pickups and delivery so it's lowrisk and not time-consuming. I received about a year's worth of free laundry detergent and some other random stuff (~$153 value total). With Intelli-Shop, I took a gamble and did a slew of fast food drive thru shops in 3 nights. I hope to receive ~$75 in earnings and ~$110 in reimbursements for free fast food later this month.
If I had more time, I'd go all in on dscout, prolific, and field agent; try validately and usertesting; then fill my downtime with crowdtap.
My two cents: For mystery shopping, you'll need cash flow to front purchases and wait for reimbursements. Some platforms can take 4-6weeks to pay, but Field Agent is like a 3-day turnaround! I think Product Tube is the only one so far that doesn't require making purchases but 100% requires in-store visits.
For research and questionnaires, some weeks are busier than others so just try to wait it out. Be strategic with your time and apply to the most lucrative and relevant studies first. Maintain professionalism, answering succinctly, and be authentic. Prolific and dscout are the most lucrative in regards of signups and applying. Some platforms literally ask for your life in just building your profile, but these are fairly low-key and easy to get started with.
For passive cashbacks, know your arsenal so you can stack your rewards to the max. For example: 1. Gas: gas station credit card or cashback credit card + get upside + miles 2. Online groceries: topcashback or rakuten + ibotta + checkout 51 + coupons.com + dosh or pei 3. Eating out: pei + dosh + cashback credit cards 4. Receipts: pei + dosh + receipt hog + receipt pal + coinout + fetch
If you have a paycheck coming in but need cash sooner, consider banking with Varo because you'll get your paycheck 2 days earlier. I signed up just for their signup bonus and savings interest rate, but this feature was honestly a very pleasant surprise. They're an online bank but if there's a Walmart near you, you could withdraw cash at their customer service desk and they have a slew of free ATMs in their network.
If you're looking for more information, check out the FAQ and monthly earnings megathread on this sub. Some other relevant subs: r/workonline and r/signupsforpay. But, signupsforpay is seriously hit and miss so heed caution, even with Credo360. I followed the instructions but because the OP gave me a broken link (therefore he claims he didn't receive any perks), he refused to pay out.
