Receipt scanning can be worth doing
Hey everyone,
I had a particularly good grocery haul today, so I decided to share it with everyone. It's not uncommon for me to plan out trips where I would get 75% or more cash back, but today could have been a money maker with a few changes. You just have to pay attention to the bonuses that are going on.
Total spent: $45.54
Coupons: $2.00
Total Cash Back: ~$37.14
Final Cost: ~$6.40
This could have easily turned into a money making trip.
First off, I bought the wrong kind of Cheerios. If I got the Oats 'N Honey Cheerios, I would have gotten another $3.64 from Fetch. Warning: The cinnamon version does NOT count. I could have also gotten all Cheerio Oats boxes and used two $1 coupons instead of getting $1/2 on SavingStar. I wasn't sure if I would like them, so I decided to forgo the extra $1 in savings and pick up two boxes of Very Berry which I know I like. Another option would have been to get the Honey Nut for an extra $0.50 with Fetch.
There were also a ton of freebies on Ibotta that simply weren't in my store. (I really wanted to try those Mystery Oreos...) The Ajax and Band-aid offers I picked were the least cost efficient, but they were things I planned to get regardless, so everything else basically ended up "free" for me.
Breakdown for those curious:
I'm not including apps that take any receipt like Coinout, Receipt Hog, Receipt Pal, etc. However, you could do those for a few more cents back.

1. The Cheerio's offer requires you to buy 1 Oat Crunch Family Size and two other Family Size Cheerios of your choice. Make sure to get the Oats 'N Honey version. Fetch does not include the Cinnamon version. Whoops.
2. Total includes 6% tax on non-food items. For some reason my BOBO Bites rang up as non-food, so they were taxed as well.
Along with the individual items, I also got an $0.20 for Any Item and $0.25 for Any Granola on Ibotta as well as my Weekend Warrior goal ($1 for 12 rebates) and my Cupid Cash bonus ($10 for 12 rebates).
Note: Rebates vary from account to account. Not everyone will have the same offers or the same bonuses.
I'm also over halfway done with my $25 One Or Many offer for General Mills on SavingStar. If I spend another $10.42, I will get an additional $5 cash back. I have a ton of cereal already... so I'm not sure if I'll finish that one.
Feel free to share your grocery haul in the comments!
