[Guide] Game of Kings: The Blood Throne - Level 21
Overview
This game is another clone of those city builder games. This is definitely one where you need to do the events and be on throughout the day. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone who can't check on it every few hours. The main difficulty in this game is speedups. Upgrading to level 21 took somewhere around 150 DAYS without speedups. However, they hand out gold, resources and speedups like candy in the game. So long as you keep doing the events, you shouldn't have any problems. After the first few days, I got lazy and stopped doing events - and I hit a wall hard. On the other hand, I finished the game with 100-250m of each type of resource, and I only needed 5-20m of each to do my final upgrade. It is crucial that you are online to do events.
Offer Name | Game of Kings: The Blood Throne |
Offer Wall | AdGate Media |
Device Used | I use Android. I do not know if it works on iPhones. |
Amount | I got $16 from Swagbucks on their 2x SB day. Note: Today (2/1/20) is a 2x Adgate day. |
Time Limit | 25 days |
Time Spent | I was level 10 within a few hours, and by day 5 I was at Stronghold level 17. I finished the game in about 13 days. However, I wasted 3-4 days by not appropriately planning my resources, and I basically didn't play for another 3 days when I got cocky near the end and my hero was captured. |
Leveling your city
Make 1 Residence, 1 Farm and 1 Mine. You can make a couple more mines, but 1 should be enough. Split the rest of the spots between Lumber Mills and Quarrys. Every time you upgrade your Stronghold, upgrade one of each type of resource building. You can stop your Residence, Farm, and Lumbermill at 18, and your Quarry at 19. For the rest of them, I slowly leveled these up as I got better hero gear, spending as little time building them as possible. If you don't plan to gather or be very active, it might be worth upgrading them further. They are resource heavy and time consuming, so I didn't feel they were worth upgrading too much. If you do decide to upgrade them further, focus on the Lumbermills and Quarrys.
Aside from getting your resources leveled up, just focus on whatever is needed to upgrade to the next Stronghold level. There's no real need to upgrade anything else. If you only need a few points for an event and your next upgrade is a big one, jump ahead and start upgrading what is required for the following Stronghold level.
I got to level 10 within a few hours. I do wish I had taken this a bit slower and farmed the early levels of events more. Everything was so easy until I got to around level 17, which is when I began to really run into a wall from a lack of resources and speedups. I wasn't able to find anything online about the Stronghold upgrading requirements, so I decided to jot down what buildings were needed to help you guys out.
Note: Every Stronghold upgrade will require a Mine → Smithy → Wall upgrade. The arrows represent what is needed in order to upgrade to the next required item.
Level | Required |
---|---|
11 | Quarry → Barracks |
12 | Watchtower |
13 | Quarry → Barracks → Hospital |
14 | Warehouse |
15 | Quarry → Barracks → Hospital |
16 | Academy |
17 | Quarry → Barracks → Market |
18 | Quarry → Barracks |
19 | Farm & Lumber Mill → Residence → Hall of Heros |
20 | Quarry → Barracks → Watchtower |
21 | Warehouse & Master's Hammer (Must be purchased for 2,000 gold) |
TL;DR: Make one of each resource building and upgrade it along with your Stronghold until they hit 18.
Events
Most of the events are worth doing, but don't push yourself for every single event. You will get an event each day to upgrade your Stronghold. Sometimes this bugs out and gives you another one - especially if you upgrade your Stronghold multiple times in one day. Try to upgrade your Stronghold at least once each day to take advantage of this event. It does reset if you can't make it. Also, it may be worth waiting until it resets to upgrade your Stronghold, unless you plan to upgrade it another time before the reset.
Next you will have a 4 hour event. This event will have you gain points from Research, Building, Hunting, Training, or Crafting. The Research and the Building are always worth it - try to complete all three tiers of these. For Hunting, I usually could only get tier 1 done in time. Training was worth it in the early levels, but once I got higher level the resources required far outweighed the reward. I saw my alliance talking about destroying troops after making them, but I did not attempt this.
There will also be a 2 hour event that has you gain points from Research, Building, and Training. These are best paired up with the 4 hour event mentioned above. Since you will likely be doing more than just one thing at a time (research and training), try to time your completions so that you don't get too many points past the 2 hour event if you still have time on a 4-hour event. It's better to save these completions for the next 2-hour event. Sometimes it's not even worth finishing a 2-hour event if you can't double up with the 4-hour event. It normally will be worth it to get to tier 2, but tier 3 may not be worth the resources. Completing all 3 tiers will give you ~1.2k gold worth of items after the resource cost (assuming you use the Training research tree). HOWEVER, there are only so many things available to research. At some point you will go over your required amount and basically waste resources. As such, it's better to only complete the 2 hour event when you can double up or are otherwise close to finishing a tier.
The 1-hour events were really hit or miss for me. I wasn't near my alliance members, so the alliance events weren't worth doing. I only did the combination events if I had enough to get to tier 2. Tier 1 and 2 take the same amount, but tier 3 takes double what the others take. Since I never had enough gems to keep doing tier 3, I always just aimed for 2.
You will get a weekly quest that requires you to get items from doing the other events. You should get to tier 1 of this event fairly easily. Each week also has some other random events. These events last 24 hours and either reset every 4 hours or every 24 hours. They tend to give amazing rewards, so try to do these events as much as possible. Sometimes they're alliance quests, sometimes they're solo.
On Saturday there is a Hunting the Fire God - Loki which is definitely not worth it. You won't even get remotely close to tier 1 - don't bother trying. There is also a PvP event right after it, so you may want to put on a shield on Sundays.
TL;DR: Do the events, they're important. Except the Hunting the Fire God - Loki one - that one sucks.
Research
The Economics tree is definitely worth having since it has the building and production items and it gives a ton of hero EXP, but it also takes quite a bit of time and it uses a lot of resources. The Hero tree seems to be the most cost efficient and gives decent hero EXP, but it takes significantly longer than the other research types. However, it's also good to get Hunting 2 so you can hit level 2 monsters (level 1 can be hard to find enough of). Perhaps even Hunting 3 would be good. In general, I found the Training to be the most efficient in terms of cost to time ratio, but since I stopped training troops near the endgame it became pretty worthless to have and it gives barely any hero EXP. The Traps tree is a good option if you need just a little power boost. They're fairly quick and good on resources, although there aren't as many of them.
I ended up upgrading Economics in the early levels (focus on the building skill), Hero whenever I planned to be away for a while, and I used Training any time I needed to complete something for the events. As I got to the endgame, I focused on doing the construction time reduction in the building tree - this helps a lot once you get around level 20.
TL;DR: Focus on the Construction from Economics and the Training tree when you need to do events.
Hero
Your hero is incredibly important. It allows you to attack monsters, and their skills are indispensable. You will want to make sure you are upgrading skills and protecting your base from attacks. I generally don't bother using shields unless necessary, but I definitely would recommend it in this game, especially as you get to the higher levels and will likely be randomly attacked by level 30-40 players. If your hero is captured, you will lose access to all of their skills. A hero stays captured for 4 days unless someone rescues it. If your hero is killed, it will take an additional 7 days from the time it is killed - however you can revive them for 6,000 gold or 500,000 loyalty. You can also get a new hero, but I did not attempt that. If your hero does get captured/killed, make sure to put their gear back on and reassign their skills.
Skills
The skills you pick will make a huge difference in your game play. I royally messed this up, and really started to feel the effects once I got around level 17. The hero skills have two different sets: Hero Skill Tree and Hunting Skill Tree. You get points for each tree separately.
Hero Skill Tree
Your primary focus here is to get both of the construction skills maxed out. This will effectively halve the time required for construction. The first construction skill is near the top and it requires Troop Attack and Food Production 1 to be at level 2. Get both of those to level 2, then max out Construction 1. Construction 2 is quite a ways down on the right hand side. Each skill will require either level 3 or level 5 of the previous skill to unlock it. Only level the skill up to whatever is required, and work your way down until you get to Construction 2 - which you will want to max out.
Next up, I recommend getting Research. In the early levels, this didn't feel too necessary since I was given a ton of research speedups - but I noticed it dragging on as I got near the end and wanted to upgrade my construction time.
Afterwards, you can go for Gathering. I'm about 50-50 on this one. Gathering speed is super helpful if you are in the lower tier areas, and it is especially helpful if there are Gathering events going on. However, you are given a bunch of teleports through the game, so you can just teleport to a higher tier area if you need to farm resources for any reason. (If you're doing the events, like you should be, resources might not even be a problem).
Once those are maxed out, dump the rest of your points into either stone or wood production. Whatever you go with, always max out one skill before going to the next. The bonuses get higher as you get further along.
If you mess up and want to change it later, you can buy an item from the alliance shop to reset the skills. They also reset if you lose your hero, but I don't recommend doing that intentionally.
Hunting Skill Tree
For this skill tree, I recommend aiming for Maximum Energy Limit. The higher your energy limit, the more hits you can do in a single trip. I originally went for hero attack, and I really regretted it. Looting a dead monster's body isn't nearly as beneficial as simply hitting it. Once you maximize the Maximum Energy Limit, put the rest of your points into Energy Cost Reduction, and then into Energy Recovery.
Gear
Without any upgrades, you will have 12 inventory slots for gear. This means you will have enough room for about 2 sets of gear. I definitely recommend having a set that has -construction time on it. In the early levels, having the -minutes is best, but in later levels the percentage ends up being better. As for a second set, I recommend having a few pieces of -forge time gear. This will greatly help you to complete the crafting events in time. Research is also a decent option, but I always forgot to swap out my gear so I ended up just sticking with construction gear.
TL;DR: Protect your hero, it's super important. Give him -construction gear, and get the -construction and Maximum Energy Limit skills.
Troops
Troops is always a debatable one in games like these. Should you get them, how many should you get, what type should you get, etc. It really boils down to your playstyle. For me, I work from home so I'm able to keep sending my troops out over and over. This means that I don't necessarily need a huge amount of troops for it to be worth it. I spent most of the game at around 14k troops. I do wish I had gotten more in the early levels when there was a good 4-hour Training event going on, but I felt that 14k tier 1 was tolerable when I got to endgame. At the very last level, I ended up training over 100k troops simply because I needed the gold from the events to speed up my timers (due to screwing up my hero's spec and not doing events early on).
Swordsman seem to be the most bang for your buck. Ballista can carry slightly more food, however, it costs nearly twice as many resources, and takes about 25% longer to train. Swordsmen are far more cost efficient, and they don't use any stone, which is one of your most commonly needed resources. It takes about 18 trips in order for a tier 1 Swordsman to pay for itself if you exclude the additional bonuses you get from completing events, which practically pays for the troops at lower levels.
Don't send your hero out with your troops. Your hero should be reserved for attacking monsters. You get tons of energy replenishing items, so make sure to use them, but also keep a bit of a stockpile in case a good event comes up. I'm not sure how common it is, but I got a 24-hour event that gave a ton of resources. Unfortunately, I had just used up almost all of my energy items the day before so I only got to the tier 1 rewards.
When sending your troops out for resources, always look for a higher tier resource point!!! Higher tier nodes take significantly less time to gather, and it's often worth the extra march time. For example: With my 14k troops it would take 1 hour and 45 minutes at a tier 1 node (and I only got 76k resources instead of 100k). At tier 2 it took 1 hour and 20 minutes. At a tier 6 it took 17 minutes.
TL;DR: Get as many Swordsman as you want, and send them to the highest tier node you can find. Don't send your hero out with them though.
Should you spend real money?
For this game, I really don't recommend wasting money on it. The best deal I saw was about 20k gold, 10m resources, and 50 hours of speed ups for $5.
In this game, 20k gold is worth 10m resources or about 2 weeks of speedups. I blew through far more than what that pack gives before even reaching level 15, and I needed more than that for each Stronghold upgrade above 18. Considering how much this offer is worth, I wouldn't bother spending money unless you're in the last level and you're running out of time. It's far more efficient to just do events.
Other tips for this game:
-
Make sure to do your Daily, Alliance and VIP quests. You will get some events for these, so save the rewards unless it's about to reset. Make sure to collect them before the timer resets or you won't get a new quest. You should also get plenty of Daily and Alliance reset items - so feel free to use those up.
-
Make sure to claim Alliance gifts, and save up 500,000 loyalty. If your hero gets killed, you will need to either spend 500,000 loyalty or 6k gold. The gold is worth significantly more than the loyalty. Spend the rest of your loyalty on speedup items (or spend all of it if you are near the end and won't get attacked). I found the 60 minute speedups to be the best option. You could also get the 3 hour ones if the 60 minutes are sold out.
-
You can deposit 100 gold into the Coffer every 2 hours to get a 10% bonus.
-
Use up those VIP items whenever you are online. I ended up getting around 2 weeks worth of time. The time stacks, so you don't have to wait until it runs out in order to use another one.
-
Redeem the code FROMZEROTOHERO - It will give you 2k gold, a couple Legendary Craftmans gear, and 833 hours worth of upgrades, and a couple teleports.
-
Sundays have a 100% speed boost on building, and Mondays have a 100% speed boost on Research. It may be worth waiting for your last Stronghold upgrade if you are short on gold and speedups.
General tips for these type of city builder mobile games:
-
Make an account and confirm your email. This is required for most of these types of games, but it is never mentioned.
-
Never stockpile resources above your protected limit - and try to keep them as low as possible. Don't open resource items or other things until you need them.
-
Rename your city/character. You're more likely to get kicked out of an alliance and/or attacked if you have the default name.
-
Make sure to do your Daily, Alliance/Guild/Clan and VIP quests (if applicable).
-
Join an alliance asap. I always recommend aiming for a lower to mid-tier alliance. You want something that has a lot of newer players and a high turnover rate. This will allow you to get the much needed speedups from alliance helps. If your alliance isn't helping enough, join a new one. Don't bother teleporting to their hive - just stay where ever it puts you unless you start getting ganked. Alternatively, you could attempt to find a generous and friendly higher tier guild and ask for them to send you resources... but good luck with that.
-
Make sure to hit that Help Alliance button. Most games will give you an alliance currency that can be used to purchase useful items.
-
Make sure to turn off notifications - these will get really annoying.
-
Go into the Options and change the setting to warn you when spending any coin (if applicable). It is incredibly easy to misclick and needlessly waste gold.
Common Questions
Can I do this if I already completed it on another offer wall or played the game before on my own?
Generally, no. Almost all of these games state that it's for new users only.
What if I do it on another site?
No.
I don't see the offer! What do I do?
It's possible it simply isn't available for you. I'm from the USA, and many offers are not available outside the USA. If you are from the USA, try checking on the site I did the offer on or on a different site. Sometimes they're only on certain sites. It's also possible that the offer is no longer available.
This takes so long! Why would you waste your time for a couple bucks?!
I play these games in between other work or on the weekends. I don't do them instead of better paying work, but rather along side it in my down time or while I'm watching TV. City builder games take a while, but most of it is just waiting around for things to finish building. I'm also a gamer, so I enjoy playing games.
