Prolific and good ol’ PayPal

Hi! So I live in the US and I was wondering if you HAVE to convert the euros to usd before transferring to your bank? Or does it not matter and it would automatically do it for you? Clearly, I am a first timer. So sorry if this is a recurring question. I just couldn’t find any posts about this earlier than 2 years, not sure if things have changed or not. Please help. :)
