Set & Forget: 19 Programs For Passive Income w/ No Effort ($75+/Month 100% Passively)

Hi everyone, this is a very loaded post. I'm going to start off with a few warnings and assumptions that this post will be making.

  1. If you're not in the US, not all of the programs listed in this post may be available to you. Please read through the TOS/FAQ of each program to understand if it will work in your country or not.
  2. Many of these programs will require you to be at least 18 years old.
  3. A majority of these apps will require you to own an Android device. Sorry iOS gang.

NOTE: This post contains many apps/sites/extenions that exist solely to take your personal information/data and use it to make money. If this is something that you're not comfortable with, I'd honestly suggest skipping this post. I've personally vetted every program listed here, and I've indicated at the top of each subsection if the program in question is heavily invasive. There are some really sketchy programs in this post. Some of them even I won't use, but I'm including them here anyways because I know that some people will still be interested in them. Programs that are that are too invasive or just plain illegal, however, won't be included.

Use each of these programs at your own risk.

15 Set & Forget Programs Q3/4 2019

So, let's talk about the real passive income makers. Set & Forget programs are amazing because they actually require either no interaction, or so little interaction that a grand majority of people do it naturally. None of the programs listed here will require you to spend any money. If you're looking for passive cash back, I've discluded those types of programs from this post, even though these apps would be closely related. **If you're looking for passive cash back, check out this post here for that.

So, let's get into it. I've categorized everything, but nothing here is really in any other particular order. So read through it all and consider things that catch your eye :)

Mobile Programs

These are programs that are done from your mobile device. Note that most, if not all of these will only be available on Android.

Mobile Performance Meter (Android Link | Ref Link)

Mobile Performance Meter is an example of a perfect, classic set & forget program. After installing this app, you'll begin to receive anywhere from 10-30 points per day (1 point = $0.01) that you can then cash out for instant gift cards (starting at $1 amazon for 150 points). In addition to the totally passive $3-9 per month you'll get, they will send out a monthly survey that takes about 5 minutes that will net you a bonus $0.50 each time you complete it. They also do have a referral system where you'll receive $3 (300 points) for each person you refer.

I think it's worth mentioning what kind of data is being collected. Mobile Performance Meter is quite literally trying to test the mobile performance in your area. This is partially why people get paid different rates. People who are in an area where there are already a lot of users will receive a lower payout, while if you're in a place where there aren't many users already, you'll likely be the one to get $0.30/day.

IMPORTANT FOR EXISTING USERS: MPM just released a new app called MPM Beta. According to the google play listing, the app might only be available to users who are invited, but I don't recall getting an invite and I was able to download and set up the app and it says that I will be earning 10 bonus points per day on the mobile performance meter app. I will continue to track this and see if it does indeed payout.

McMoney

McMoney will be very similar to the next three apps on this list (SMS Profit, ControlMySMS, and MoneySMS), so I won't be writing much for the description of those apps in order to save characters :).

McMoney (and the other related SMS apps) will pay you to receive texts. Each of these apps claims to be testing the quality of texts received, but I feel like they're really using your phone for some sort of verification process. I can't really tell, but I also happen to not really care.

McMoney pays $0.02 for each text you receive. You'll likely receive an average of one text per day. The minimum cash out is $6 PayPal, so it will certainly take you a while to get there, but this is still very good passive income, although you might find several instances in the future where you'll be waiting for a text from someone and it'll just be this shit instead. I've also lost a 'first to get a notification has to pay the bill' game one before because of these fucking apps. It's also worth noting that you will not find these apps on the Play Store. You'll need to download them directly from their site. Makes sense because these apps are reading your texts (sketchy, huh?) and Google Play doesn't allow that privacy infringement.

SMS Profit

The big difference between SMS Profit and the other apps is the ability to use multiple sim slots with their app. Most other apps don't recognize multiple sim cards, so you can only verify one phone number. It's also worth mentioning that you'll receive less texts with SMS Profit than other apps like McMoney, but in my opinion they all add up, so fuck it. Also the cash out minimum is $2 from SMS Profit.

Money SMS

Money SMS is very much like SMS Profit and ControlMySMS below. You'll receive €0.02 per text you receive. The estimate from my last post was 2 texts per day, but I think that's overestimating. I think 1 text per day might be a safer estimate. So you'll probably earn $0.02 per day (converted to USD). The thing that makes MoneySMS different from the competition is their referral system.

You will earn 30% from every withdrawal that your referral makes. Yawn. But your referral will earn a $0.25 sign up bonus if they sign up with a referral code. If interested, my referral code is 2D9E26DA8.

ControlMySMS

ControlMySMS happens to be my favorite of these apps. What makes this app so much better is its higher payouts per text and automatic payments. According to their FAQ, you'll receive $0.12 per text you receive for the first 50 texts per month (I've never gotten more than 50 texts in a month, not even close). After that it's $0.6 for the next 50, and then $0.02 for each text thereafter.

I probably receive an average of 6 texts per month from ControlMySMS.

HyperDrive (iOS | Android)

If you would like a more full review of HyperDrive, you can read more here.

HyperDrive is probably the most unique app on this list. This is an app that actually tracks your driving and pays you for safe driving, as well as the amount of miles that you drive. After each trip you'll automatically earn points (2 points = $0.01) which you can redeem instantly for a minimum of $5 to a gift card of your choice for 1000 points. There is no referral system at this time.

The general payout is roughly 1 point per 2 miles that you drive, so if the average american drives 29 miles per day, you can expect to earn roughly $0.07 per day, which I personally think is a very conservative estimate for most people because there are a lot of other bonuses that you can get from each trip, but not all of those bonuses are totally passive. I do think it's really worth opening up this app once or twice a week even just to collect the points from all your trips since you last opened the app or to see some statistics about your driving. The post linked above has much more detailed information about HyperDrive. If you're interested in more, please read it.

AppOptix (Android)

AppOptix is probably the most straightforward of all the data collection apps. Once you install the app you'll basically be stalked the hell out of, but you'll earn yourself 25 points (300 points = $10) every week you have the app installed. Once you reach 300 points you'll automatically receive an email with a $10 amazon gift card. That's it. Once you get paid, you start all over again and just keep going up from there. The app itself is terrible and hasn't been updated since Android Nougat was released, but it's extremely simple.

Note: AppOptix is only available in the US and India. However, when you apply to join the panel you may get rejected initially and be required to wait for them to take on more people.

Panel App (Android | iOS) Ref

Panel App is another really old app that has been around or a long time. This app tracks your location, so as long as you have an internet connection and your GPS is on, you should be earning points! Panel App originally offered sweepstakes, but somewhere along the way they began to offer "guaranteed rewards" which value points anywhere from 1000 = $1 to 800 = $1, depending on cash out amounts. $1 cash out = 1000, but $25 = 20000.

Each day you have the app installed and running you should earn "up to 33 points" for a total of ~1,000 points per month. Here's an image that does a good job breaking the app down. All in all, you should end up getting about a dollar a month from this app. They also have a referral system that could help you earn a bit more. Their referral program is a classic 10% bonus program, so you'll get 10% of what your referrals earn. I don't really care about this app but if you're not using it feel free to use my ref link above. I appreciate it!

Smart Panel

Smart Panel is another site that will allow you to earn money passively each month for running their software on any device. If you'd like to you can run Smart Panel on your phone or you can run it on your computer. Regardless of the device, you'll be earning at least $5 every month that you have Smart Panel running. This is actually probably one of the highest, if not the highest paying panel on this list, but there are a couple drawbacks that I'll discuss later on.

One nice thing about Smart Panel is that you'll earn a "loyalty" bonus in addition (?) to the $5 you'll be earning each month. Per the site's FAQ:

You earn $5. Once the Smart App has been installed and active on at least one device per device category you own (PC's, tablets, smartphones) for 30 days, your rewards will become available to redeem. For every month that you use the Smart App, you’ll earn another $5. After your devices have been syncing with us for 90 days, you can earn a loyalty bonus of $5. After six months, you can earn a loyalty bonus of $10, after nine months $15, and every quarter after that another $15.

This is pretty nice because you'll be earning $30 (?) $5*3 + $15 bonus every quarter with the added bonus, after you've been a user for long enough.

The drawbacks? Smart Panel requires you to install a VPN to use it if you're planning on tracking smartphones and tablets. Their FAQ references "VPN" 7 times, so if you have questions about the VPN use, I recommend reading that, but here's one quote:

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a secure, encrypted connection that allows your research data to be sent to us safely. The Smart App requires that mobile devices must have the VPN installed and active in order to be eligible to earn rewards.

If you're a frequent beermoneyer, you'll know that VPNs are often not allowed on sites/apps, and you could risk getting banned if you were to use them. I don't know what the implications of this VPN are, but know that you're using this at your own risk of getting banned on other beermoney apps/sites you use.

Historically there have been a lot of offers on GPT sites to sign up for Smart Panel. It might be a good idea to take a look at offer walls because you might be able to find an offer to get a bonus for signing up, why not stack beermoney?

MobileXpression

MobileXpression is very similar to Smart Panel, so I'm not going to write as much about it.

To sign up for MobileXpression you'll need to sign up online, and then download the app on your qualified phone. Just an important note to add, MobileXpression does require a VPN.

Each week you use the app you'll receive 2 points, and once you reach 10 points (just over a month) you'll earn a $5 gift card, or if you prefer you can save up 15 points for a $10 gift card. Payments are done in generally 1-3 days.

Nielsen Mobile Rewards

I want to be perfectly clear here. I have never used Nielsen Mobile Rewards, and I find the sign up process too complicated, so I've never bothered with it. A lot of the information I have about the app is done based on my own research as well as research done by /u/Garwald in his original post from 2 years ago that I have kindly borrowed for this post.

Nielsen is a massive company that is willing to pay you to let them take your data. They have a mobile tracking app, but they also have an app for your computer. From my research it seems like the one that gives you the good rewards is the mobile app, but if you still want to use the desktop app you can still earn entries to weekly/monthly sweepstakes. I wouldn't bother with the desktop version because it is probably extremely unlikely you'll win anything from that. The mobile version advertises $50 per year for using their service. The following information might be outdated/inaccurate, but according to /u/Garwald's original post, "All active members will receive up to 6,600 points per year for participating in the panel. As an example of how much the points are worth: 640 points = $5 amazon; which is about $50 a year."

SavvyConnect

SavvyConnect is similar to Nielsen above. Similarly, I have never used SavvyConnect.

SavvyConnect is a panel that pays you to connect devices and just use them as you usually do. I'm not going to write much about this because their site will honestly help you way more.

The general information worth noting is that you will earn $15 per month ($5/device) if you use 3 devices. So that would be a phone, a tablet, and a desktop/laptop. Also payments are really slow and the payments are all sent by check. There is a VPN required for SavvyConnect.

It's a pass from me still but if you're going for it all, $15 a month isn't terrible.

ReceiptPal

Alright, for those of you who already use ReceiptPal, I think I know what you're thinking... how is this set and forget?

ReceiptPal is an app that pays you for your receipts. You can just upload an image of just about any receipt and you'll earn points that you can redeem for gift cards.

Each week you will receive 3 new cards (4 receipts will complete a card, each card is worth 100 points). Cards can carry over from week to week, so that the maximum number of cards you have is 5.

Basically for most people it's just 25 points per receipt you submit.

Here's how you can turn this into a set & forget opportunity:

In account -> manage accounts, you can actually link your emails and your purchases/e-receipts will then track automatically. I actually opened up this app after not using it for months and found myself with $25+ worth of points.

The minimum cash out is $5 for a gift card at 2,000 points. At that rate you'll be earning $0.0625 per receipt. If you save up for $25, you can cash out for 7,500 points. At this rate you'll be earning 0.083 per receipt.

Realistically, I think most people will have around 4 e-receipts per week, so that would make the weekly earnings $0.33.

Achievemint (iOS | Android) Ref Link

Achievement is an app/site that allows you to link up to 30+ apps that track your health, and earn up to 80 points per day. (10000 points = $10). I think if I ever get around to making a post just about apps that pay you to exercise this will also appear on it for sure.

Achievement has actually been around for a while now, and you'll be able to link just about any exercise app to it, so it's really basically passively getting paid for the exercise you do.

While they say you can earn up to 80 points per day ($0.08) you'll likely find yourself earning closer to $0.03 per day with natural walking habits, but you should see more if you link multiple different apps.

They do have a referral system as well, where you'll earn 100 points for each user who signs up and refers.

Conversationally

Conversationally is a newer program that pays you to use a virtual assistant (like Google Assistant or Alexa). When you sign up, you'll give them permission to see your conversations with your VA, and in return they'll pay you $5 per month, plus potential for a bonus through their monthly sweepstakes (the odds of winning something from the sweepstakes is actually decently high).

Conversationally is great because everything is very automatic. Each month you'll get $5 through PayPal automatically. No action required.

They do also have a referral system, but the page doesn't seem to be working for me right now, so I won't be posting a referral link. They are currently offering $2 for each person you refer. There doesn't seem to be any bonus for the user who is signing up.

UpVoice

UpVoice is a panel that pays you to browse several websites every day. Each day you browse the internet, you'll earn 10 points (600 points = $10) in addition to other bonuses.

I already wrote a post about UpVoice, so I won't be going into as much detail here. You can read that post here.

When you install the extension you'll instantly get 300 points ($5), and you can then cash out once you reach $10 for an Amazon gift card.

In order to receive the 10 points per day, the requirements are very simple. You simply must visit one of the sites below:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Linkedin
  • Amazon

Most people do this naturally, but do note that you must not use an adblocker on the site that you visit each day. Overall UpVoice is very very good and simple passive income.

Brave Browser (Ref Link)

Brave Browser is a newer chromium based browser that not only will net you faster and more secure browsing, but also rewards. By switching to Brave, you'll be able to opt in to Brave Rewards, where you'll then begin to see ads from Brave. Each ad will earn you a bit of BAT (their cryptocurrency) at the end of the month. You can then use your BAT to tip people on the internet (yes, you can tip yourself!) and then convert it to USD or redeem it through Uphold.

I actually already wrote a very detailed post about Brave here that I would really recommend you read if you're interested.

I'd estimate that the average person will get ~$10/month from Brave Ads. Last month I somehow got $25, but that's not very common. Regardless, it's some extra free money, and since I use it on both my PC and on my Mac, I certainly do double dip. Also the browser is really great.

It's also worth mentioning that they do have a referral system where you'll earn $5 for each person you refer who downloads, installs, and uses Brave for 30 days. If you're interested in trying out Brave, you can use my ref link here. <3.

FluidStack (Ref Link)

NOTE: FluidStack has been criticized much in the past as having a very high potential for harmful/intrusive use. I am still including it on this list because I feel like it will be extremely beneficial for some users, and you are able to opt out of the harmful programs.

FluidStack is a program you can download onto your PC/Linux device that will run various functions that you can earn money from.

I did write a post about FluidStack here, if you'd like to read it. There are a lot of changes since then, and I'll try to highlight them and re-explain.

Here's FluidStack, according to FluidStack:

FluidStack is building a cloud service (like AWS) from regular devices. Your device will be used to sustain a suite of different cloud services which utilise different parts of your device hardware. All processes happen when the device is idle and not in use. Each of these are optional, please check settings to opt out of any.

CDN

Content delivery. This uses your upload bandwidth, please let us know if your ISP has a monthly cap.

Proxies

IPs for webscraping. This uses your IP for web-scraping and regional unblocking; if you use video streaming services we advise unchecking this option so your experience is not affected.

HPC compute

High performance compute for research organisations. This uses your CPU and GPU when your device is idle and will always pay more than electricity. We never perform crypto-mining pool services.

Video transcoding

Converting videos into different formats and sizes. This uses your CPU when your device is idle.

Note that the program that has been noted as being potentially harmful is the proxies option. FluidStack is much better than its competition, still, but they even mention that you shouldn't use Proxies if you use streaming services, because there's a chance that whoever is using your connection might mess you up. This is also concerning for beermoney because we have seen with FluidStack's competition that users were getting banned from beermoney sites because the FluidStack customers were signing up for the sites over these devices. FluidStack has taken a stand to block these sites, but there's no way they can catch everything.

Proxies is probably the biggest money maker for most people, and since the other services aren't totally laid out yet, I'll only be calculating/reviewing proxies. At the bare minimum, you'll earn $5/month from FluidStack. This just requires that you have an upload speed of 25 MB/s. The faster your speed, the more you'll make, up to $50. So for example, I have an upload speed of ~950 MB/s, so I would peak at $50/month if I were to run proxies. I'm going to review assuming that most people would earn $5/month from Proxies, although many people will make much more with CDN, HPC compute, and Video Transcoding. Payments are automatic at the end of each month.

They also do have a referral system. You'll earn $5 for each person you refer who downloads and runs a node for 7 days.

Loginhood (Ref Link)

Loginhood is a very new extension that claims to block trackers online, but collects your data to sell it on your behalf. They are still new so keep this in mind since they aren't well established just yet.

As of now, there is no clear format or schedule for how much you'll get paid, and when.

I actually did, however just get paid $1.12 for my data from the last month, so I'm thinking they might do payments monthly, and if people are expecting $1/month just for having the extension, I don't think that's too terrible.

Loginhood is still developing so hopefully it grows and they become established with payouts as well.

They do also have a referral system. You'll get $1 for each person you refer who installs the extension and then blocks 500+ trackers. You can sign up under me here.

Conclusion

So, that's it. These are the current options for the active set & forget programs you can check out. Before I end this post, I do want to go over monthly estimated earnings and a few things that some people might think I missed from including on this list.

Estimated Earnings

This is my favorite part. Reading through this post, you might have been thinking 'what? this shit only pays me like $3/month?' well, if you use everything here, you might really be shocked at how much it all adds up to.

So let's go over totals.

ReceiptPal $1.32
Achievement $0.90
Conversationally $5.00
UpVoice $5.00
Brave Browser $10.00
FluidStack $5.00
Loginhood $1.00

Total Monthly Earnings: $77.11

Total Yearly Earnings: $925.32

I think that an additional $77 per month is very useful for most people. That's like 10 burritos at Chipotle, or about 1/5 of my current rent. The best thing about the apps on this list is that they require almost no interaction. I purposely did not include some apps in this list that required you to change habits more than I thought reasonable. If you like the programs in this post, I feel like it's really important to note some honorable mentions that combined will easily push you over to $100+/month from 100% passive income.

Honorable Mentions

  • Passive Cash Back Apps
  • Paid Lockscreen apps like Smore (passive $0.10/day just for having the app installed).
  • MonetizeMe: MonetizeMe fits this post very well, but it's too sketchy for me to justify listing. I really highly don't recommend using MonetizeMe (also there's no payment proof). If you wish, here's a link..
  • Fix Rewards & Renaissance. These apps connect to Spotify and reward you with points that you can cash out for gear by your favorite artists. The earnings are really low, and the cash out options aren't very appealing.

Since this the first version of this post, I think when it comes time to rework it in about 6 months there will be some really great additions.

Please feel free to ask any questions or comment other set & forget ideas.
