Have you ever gotten a visa gift card from The virtual reward center or wired.com

So I did a study on make up remover wipes and I was expecting a visa card. I got an email from the virtual reward center. Inside it had a code and it said click the link and paste in the code. The link took me to wired.com. it turns out the gift card i was expecting was to come from a totally different website that had nothing to do with this code I received (but I didn't know this at the time) Long story short copying the link into wired.com didnt work, so i emailed virtual reward center and they sent me an email apologizing that I couldn't get my Mastercard (the email was supposed to be for a visa not a mastercard) and sent me this big email of instructions, which took me to a different website. So i emailed them again and they said i would need to call them. I call them and they start asking me for all kinds of information and I was like nope and hung up...just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen and if these people are in fact a scam, is there any place to report it?
