Has anyone tried Electroneum (app)?

I found this app through a post here. It has over a million downloads and positive reviews on the play store so i installed it. Upon signing up, it requires me to upload a selfie of myself for verification which i'm not comfortable doing unless i have some verification that its legit.

Has anyone tried it? Should i? is it worth it? is it safe?
