Current no longer playing in background

My Current app is no longer playing in the background when I switch to other apps or lock my phone. New update? Unfortunately not being able to lock my phone while playing Current is a big turn off because Current KILLS my battery otherwise. Even when it's plugged in, it slowly drains my battery. I do have an older phone in the first place, but it's disappointing.
